When an irritated Rishi Kapoor said Shatrughan Sinha got all the praise for a song in ‘Naseeb’ which he didn’t even shoot: ‘He couldn’t care less’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

The 1981 film ‘Naseeb’ is considered one of the classics made by Manmohan Desai. The director’s movies were largely multi-starrers and he had the knack of getting the best out of his actors. ‘Naseeb’ starred Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini and Reena Roy. A few years ago, Rishi had recalled memories on that film during an interview. All the three actors – Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha were supposed to dance together in the song ‘Rang Jamake Jayenge’.
But Rishi had revealed during an interview with NDTV that while him and Amitabh Bachchan were working really hard to get the perfect steps choreographed by dance master Kamal, Shatrughan was least bothered. Because of him, there were so many retakes and he couldn’t care less. Due to this, a body double was brought in by Desai to shoot for Sinha’s part.
Eventually, Sinha’s body double, a junior artist shot the song with Rishi and Big B. Meanwhile, Shatrughan just sat on the chair and kept saying, “Shabaash, karo dance.” An annoyed Rishi Kapoor further revealed that the tragedy was that Shatrughan took away all the credit and people kept saying how well did he dance!
Many years later, Shatrughan addressed Rishi’s statements and had a hearty laugh. He agreed to every word said by Rishi and said, “During Naseeb, dance master Kamal suggested that we should make Amitabh Bachchan this, Rishi Kapoor that, and Shatrughan Sinha, a Cossack dancer. Arre yaar bhangra karna aaya nahi merko, Kathak training I left in the middle, ye toh kaise hi hoga (I couldn’t do Bhangra, left Kathak training midway at FTII, how could I do this?). A couple of places I did the shots but when it came to faster movements, Manmohan Desai understood something needs to be done.”
Sinha had no qualms in admitting that he was a bad dancer. He confessed in a film called ‘Rampur Ka Lakshman’ with Rekha, he took 13 takes during a dance sequence.
