Yami Gautam’s latest release ‘Article 370’, based on the abrogation of Article 370 which was brought upon to special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, has continued its strong hold at the box office even in its third weekend. In its first two weeks, the film crossed the Rs 50 crore mark and earned about Rs 57.9 crore.
With Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shaitaan’ releasing this weekend, ‘Article 370’ was expected to end its theatrical run, but it turns out that the film is marching forward at an exceptional pace. While the film saw a marginal 10 percent drop on Friday over Thursday, it still minted Rs 1.65 crore. But on Saturday ‘Article 370’ saw a near 60 percent jump and collected Rs 2.65 crore, as per early estimates by Sacnilk. This takes the total collection of the film to Rs 62.60 crore. In fact the film has also recently been announced Tax Free in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It would be interesting to see if other states also follow the suit.
‘Article 370’ has already become Yami’s fifth highest grossing film beating ‘Badlapur’, which had minted Rs 50.07 crore. It has already beaten the lifetime collection of Yami’s debut film ‘Vicky Donor’.
