Ranbir Kapoor made a heartfelt revelation about his late father Rishi Kapoor during the debut episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show alongside his mother Neetu Kapoor and sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.
Speaking fondly about Rishi Kapoor on the show, Ranbir said that his father’s sternness often signified his love for those close to him. He recalled a specific incident from his childhood, where the only time his father had hit him.
“Mujhe ek hi baar bohot zor ki pari thi! Diwali puja at RK Studios.Papa bohot religious the. I think I was eight or nine years old. Toh main chappal pehenke andar chala gaya tha mandir mein. Toh mujhe dapli pari thi (He hit me only once, very hard! It was during the Diwali puja at RK Studios. Papa was very religious. I think I was eight or nine years old. I had entered the temple premises with shoes on, so he hit me on the head)!” Ranbir shared.

Ranbir then jokingly mentioned that it was his mother Neetu Kapoor who used to discipline him as a child, by beating him as child, including using a hanger on one occasion.
When Kapil Sharma asked Neetu Kapoor about Ranbir’s transformation post-marriage, she said that he has evolved into a better person as he values relationships a lot more. Riddhima added Ranbir has become a loving and caring father since the birth of his daughter Raha.
Rishi Kapoor died in 2020 at the age of 67 after a long battle with cancer. Ranbir married Alia Bhatt in April 2022, and they welcomed their daughter Raha in November 2022.
