Who is actually backing Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayan? – Exclusive | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Renowned director Nitesh Tiwari, known for his acclaimed works like “Chillar Party,” “Bhootnath Returns,” “Dangal,” “Chhichhore,” and “Bawaal,” has embarked on his next ambitious project, “Ramayan.” With an ensemble cast featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Yash as Raavan, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and several other notable names, the film has already commenced filming.
However, amidst the excitement surrounding the project, the industry buzz revolves around the identity of the film’s producer. Initially, Madhu Mantena, known for producing hits like “Ghajini,” “Lootera,” and “Udta Punjab,” along with Prime Focus Technologies, a leading VFX company, were set to produce the film. However, due to undisclosed reasons, Madhu Mantena opted to withdraw from the project. It was agreed that Prime Focus would take over production responsibilities, with Madhu Mantena compensated for his contributions and intellectual property rights.
Yet, in a public notice issued by Madhu Mantena, he alleged that Prime Focus, led by Namit Malhotra, failed to fulfill their contractual obligations regarding payment for acquiring IP rights. Despite reminders, the agreed-upon payments, amounting to crores, have not been made as of the current date, jeopardizing the project’s progress.
Insiders reveal that the contractual agreement, finalized in April, stipulated that the contract would be executed upon payment to Madhu Mantena’s company. However, with payments pending, the issue remains unresolved, potentially leading to legal actions for copyright infringement.
While one perspective suggests that Prime Focus’s involvement primarily pertains to facilitating and covering the extensive VFX costs, estimated to be in the hundreds of crores, another asserts that Namit Malhotra is fully invested in the project, committing his resources and expertise to ensure its global standard.
Speculations further abound regarding actor Yash’s purported involvement as a producer, possibly in exchange for his acting fees. Additionally, earlier reports hinted at Warner Bros joining the project as part of a trilogy, but updates on this collaboration remain scarce.
We have dropped a message to Nitesh Tiwari on the clarification however, we didnt received any reply till the time of filing the story.
