Panchayat‘ which is in its third season that released recently has gained immense popularity. All the actors in the series are now known by their characters and fans have showered love even on season 3 of the show. Actor Durgesh Kumar who plays Bhushan and is popular as Banrakas on the show, alongside actors like Jeetendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, recently spoke about his journey and struggling days.
The actor says he battled depression for a long time but one has to be mentally very strong to survive here. He also compared himself to other actors like Irrfan, Nawazuddin. Durgesh said in an interview with Lallantop, “This is no place to try. This place is filled with crazy people. All the successful people you see today, including Manoj Bajpayee and Pankaj Tripathi, who were my seniors at the National School of Drama or even Nawazuddin Siddiqui, they are all half crazy people, nobody discloses this.”
He further added, “This is the kind of struggle and dedication it takes to survive in the industry. It feels embarrassing to go out for random auditions after having worked in films, especially after the casting directors recognise you. I just had one day’s role in Panchayat season 1. I shot for just 2.5 hours. I am really thankful to Chandan Kumar and Deepak Kumar Mishra who wrote the ‘Banrakas’ role. I am glad. I am not Irrfan, Nawazuddin, I am an average actor with survival instinct in me.”
In this chat, he also revealed that before he got such roles, he did soft porn for money. He confessed, “I can’t live without acting. I did any work that came my way because I was confident in my abilities.”
Durgesh’s debut film was Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Highway’ alongside Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda.
