Actor Vijay Raaz was asked to leave the project on the first day of filming, despite being originally hired in a key part in the upcoming movie ‘Son of Sardaar 2’.
During a conversation with Pinkvilla, Vijay talked about producer Kumar Mangat Pathak‘s allegations that he was kicked from the movie for his actions on set, along with his demands for “bigger rooms, vanity van,” and excessive fees for spot boys. The actor shared, “It’s all a lie. All these discussions are done before the actor reaches the set. Them mentioning it now in itself means there is something fishy. All this was decided, which is why I went all the way to Scotland for the film’s shoot.”
He further added, “I told them that my room is congested, I do yoga so I need some space apart from the bed. Yeh main aur kisse kahunga, executive producer se hi bolunga na? Maine request kari thi, unhone kaha theek hai ispe kal baat karenge, aur main raat ko pahaunch ke so gaya. (Who else would I talk to, I would talk to the executive producer, right? I requested, he said that he would like to talk to me the next day, and when I reached during the night I slept.”
He continued by saying that when Pathak told him his shoot would start in four hours the following morning, everything appeared to be going smoothly. The actor shared that the discussion about the room was already sorted. After half an hour, the actor was asked to leave the shoot. He said, “I can’t force someone to keep me on; I’m not a junior artist. I’ve been working for decades.”
Raaz assumed that his dismissal could have something to do with not greeting the film’s lead actor, Ajay Devgn properly. He shared that he too is clueless about the situation and said, “I was standing with people at one place, and saw Ajay ji talking to someone. I thought I would go and meet him, it was his scene being shot. Kumar Mangat ji’s behaviour until that point was different. Aadhe ghante baad kya ho gaya. Kuchh toh hua hoga na? Aisa kya badal gaya?(What happened after half an hour? Something must have happened, right? What changed?).”
Raaz’s dismissal had previously been confirmed by Kumar Mangat Pathak in an interview with Pinkvilla, saying, “It’s true that we have removed Vijay Raaz from the film because of his behaviour on the sets. He demanded for bigger rooms, vanity van and also overcharged us for the spot boys. In fact, his spot boy was paid ₹20,000 per night, which is more than any big actor. UK is an expensive place, and everyone got standard rooms during the shoot, but he demanded premium suites. When we tried explaining the costing scenario to him, he refused to understand, and spoke rudely.”
According to reports, Vijay Raaz has been replaced by Sanjay Mishra.
The action comedy film is a follow-up to ‘Son of Sardaar’ (2012) and is currently being filmed in the United Kingdom. Mrunal Thakur also features in the Vijay Kumar Arora-directed movie. The movie will first shoot a large portion in the UK before moving on to India. Ajay and Sonakshi Sinha starred in Ashwani Dhir’s film ‘Son of Sardaar’.
