Veena Nagda fondly recalled in a chat with Bollywood Now how Deepika kept a promise she made during the filming of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to hire her for her wedding mehendi.Veena didn’t realize she’d be part of the star-studded affair until she saw a letter from Ranveer Singh at the visa office. The couple went the extra mile, booking her for five days instead of just one, allowing her to enjoy her time in Italy and explore. “Deepika fulfilled her promise,” Veena shared, touched by the gesture.
Despite the chilly weather in Lake Como, Deepika’s love for mehendi kept her patiently seated through the intricate application, determined to achieve the deep, traditional hue. Veena Nagda recalled how Deepika, mindful of the delicate designs, waited until the mehendi had dried sufficiently before joining the dance floor. “It was so cold, but Deepika made sure her hands and feet were fully adorned. She didn’t dance until the mehendi was dry because she didn’t want to spoil it,” Veena shared.
Ranveer, with his trademark exuberance, initially planned to have a tiger symbol from his upcoming film Simmba included in his mehendi. However, in a sweet and sentimental turn, he chose to have Deepika Padukone’s initials instead, wanting to carry a part of his bride with him on their special day. Veena Nagda shared, “Ranveer first said he wanted a tiger, but then changed his mind and asked for ‘DP’s name in my mehendi.’”
