Netflix has officially greenlit a docuseries from Rapper 50 Cent about the ongoing sex trafficking, racketeering and sexual assault allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Variety reported that director Alexandria Stapleton is set to direct the project that is currently in production. Sharing the news on his social media handles, 50 Cent wrote, “I been telling y’all about all this weird shit, I don’t do NO puffy party’s.You didn’t believe me but I bet you believe me now!”
In a statement to Variety, the rapper said, “This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far.”Meanwhile, director Stapleton added, “While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’ story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.”
50 Cent will executively produce the docuseries under his G-Unit Film & Television banner.
While the rapper first made the announcement about the project back in December, this is the first time that the OTT giant is confirming the project. At the time, 50 Cent shared a clip on X that showed Bad Boy Records rapper Mark Curry alleging that Combs would spike bottles of champagne at his parties before women drank from them.
According to the rapper, the proceeds from the documentary will be used to support sexual assault victims.
Early this month, Combs was arrested in New York and charged on three counts: racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Diddy remains in custody after being denied bail twice.
