Reflecting on her decision to fly down to Mumbai to live her big dream, Deepika Padukone once during an India Today interview revealed, “Today when I think about the decision that I made when I was 18, I sometimes have that moment when I think ‘Wow. How did I even make that decision and how did I not realize how big a decision it was at that time? But at that time, it was very easy.”

Deepika’s father and former badminton champion Prakash Padukone, also added to what the actress had to say. He shared how being a loving and caring parent, it was hard for him and her mother to let the piece of their heart go all alone in a big city, where she didn’t even have a place to live. “We were very nervous because she was not even 18. She didn’t have a place to stay. She was moving into a new field. At that time, we felt she was too young to move out. But now when I look back, I think she did the right thing. Because in that profession, you need to start early,” said Prakash Padukone.
Deepika then mentioned that she did understand the nervousness and concern of her parents; however, it was an important decision to take.
