Despite a string of not so successful films post the pandemic, Akshay Kumar‘s latest release Khel Khel Mein is turning out to be a survivor at the box office. The film continued to hold strong against Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, as it heads into its fourth week. After a good weekend, the film crashed majorly on Monday.
Over its three-week run, Khel Khel Mein has garnered approximately Rs 31.9 crore and it saw a decent performance during its fourth weekend by collecting Rs 2.5 crore .But the film crashed majorly on Monday where it collected only Rs 28 lakh – a drop of nearly 75 percent as per early estimates by Sacnilk. Thus, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 34.68 crore. The film is hoping to reach a lifetime collection of at least Rs 40 crore, which is quite possible as next week sees the release of only Kareena Kapoor Khan’s The Buckingham Murders.
On his birthday on Monday, Akshay announced his new film Bhoot Bangla, which will see him teaming up with Priyadarshan after a gap of 14 years. Together they have delivered films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and many more.
Akshay will next be seen in Singham Again during Diwali. His next film was supposed to be Sky Force, releasing on October 2nd release, but it has been postponed to early next year. Beyond that, his lineup includes Welcome to the Jungle, Jolly LLB 3, and The Untold Story of C. Sankaran Nair. Additionally, reports suggest Akshay has joined forces with Siddharth Anand for a film directed by Milan Luthria.
Khel Khel Mein, directed by Mudassar Aziz, features a stellar cast that includes Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Pragya Jaiswal, and Aditya Seal.
