Late singer Chester Bennington’s ex-wife has responded to their child’s revelation on Instagram.
In a public Valentine’s Day post, Draven Bennington came out as transgender.
Bennington’s mom Samantha Bennington offered a positive response in the comment thread. “I’m so proud of you. I love you with all my heart and soul. You’re my favorite human on the planet. I just want you happy and healthy forever and always.😍” she wrote on Instagram.
Draven’s Instagram page indicates that Draven Bennington is an “Artist • Musician • Actor” who uses she/her pronouns.
Draven Bennington Wrote, ‘I Decided to Take the Path of Happiness’
Draven made the post on Valentine’s Day.
Draven Bennington wrote, “As today is a day to celebrate love and what love truly means, whether it’s for a partner, family or ourselves, I thought it would be the perfect time to show some love to myself. For a long time, I tried to be someone, someone I truly wasn’t on the inside. Ignoring it worked for a while, but continuously coming to the crossroads of being happy or being complacent was one I couldn’t keep crossing.”
“In August of last year, I decided to take the path of happiness and being true to myself. I came out as transgender and started hormone replacement therapy, and it has been the best decision I’ve ever made in my life,”‘ the post continues.
Draven Bennington Thanked Family Members for Being Supportive
The post includes thanks to family members for their support.
“I do have to say I am very blessed to be able to do this as well as having such supportive family and friends. I love each and every one of you who have shown me nothing but love and respect and see me for who I truly am,” Draven Bennington wrote.
“Especially Mom, you’ve always unconditionally loved me. I’m so blessed to be your child. I love you to the moon and back! With all the support and love I’ve received I’ve built the strength to love myself. This is why I’ choosing to no longer hide who I am. Love is love. Happy Valentine’s Day,” the post concluded.

On Father’s Day, Draven wrote a tribute to Chester Bennington. “Happy Fathers Day!!!! Miss you and love you so much Dad!!!!” it reads.“In this picture we painted this canvas together for charity to fight the war against cancer. It was so much fun to do, we spent 3 days painting back to back to finish it up. I definitely wasn’t as patient with paint back then and drove him crazy asking if it was dry yet. Love you so much!!!”
The Linkin Park singer died in 2017. Draven is one of Bennington’s six kids.
