William & Kate Shake Up Royal Rule Book

When it comes to how the British Royal Family operates, it seems some of the younger members are ready to make some changes. Catherine, Princess of Wales, wants to shift the focus from what she’s wearing to what she’s doing. And that has Kensington Palace announcing it will no longer release details of what she wears to events.

Until now, it was routine for the palace to release the names of designers and other details about Kate’s wardrobe to the press before an appearance. But a palace source tells British newspaper The Times, “There is an absolute feeling that it [the public work] is not about what the princess is wearing. She wants the focus to be on the really important issues, the people and the causes she is spotlighting. There will always be an appreciation of what the princess is wearing from some of the public and she gets that. But do we need to be officially always saying what she is wearing? No. The style is there but it’s about the substance.”

Princess Says Cancer Battle Has Shifted Her Focus

The change comes on the heels of a cancer battle that kept her out of the public eye for much of last year.

After completing chemotherapy, the princess posted a very personal video about her cancer journey on the @princeandprincessofwales Instagram account. Kate recently announced she is in remission and has stepped up her public duties.

Princess Kate Focuses on Young Children’s Health

in recent days, Kate has ramped up her focus on children ages birth to five-years-old. She is working to raise awareness of how emotional and social skills are crucial to mental and physical well-being. The princess wrote the forward to “The Shaping Us Framework,” written by a coalition of academics, clinicians and practitioners in human development from the U.K. and around the world.

In her forward, she writes, “Modern society is complex. At times, it can feel like the world is filledwith mistrust and misunderstanding, leaving many people feeling isolated and vulnerable during difficult times. The impact of this – poor mental health, addiction and abuse – can be devastating, forindividuals and for society. If we are to address this properly, if we are to find real, lasting solutionsto these deep-rooted challenges and create a physically and mentally healthier society, we must reset, restore, and rebalance. We must invest in humankind.”

William & Kate Face Big Decision for Oldest Son

Now that Prince William and Princess Kate’s oldest son Prince George is approaching his 12th birthday July 22, the royals face another tough decision. Do they follow tradition and send George to boarding school or break with the past and keep him in day school?

BBC Royal commentator Jennie Bond told British newspaper the Mirror, “From the reports we’ve had, it certainly seems that William and Catherine have undertaken a great deal of research into the best school for George – and, perhaps, the other children. I think it’s quite likely that, after the year they have had – and how unsettling it must have been for George and the other children, no matter how hard their parents tried to lessen the trauma of cancer – that they would all feel happier and more secure if they could remain as a tight family unit.”

The royal couple already deviated from the traditional timeline. George’s grandfather, King Charles III and father Prince William went to boarding school at age 8.
