BREAKING: Torrey DeVitto Welcomes First Baby at 40

Three months after marrying her fiancé of a year on a 30-acre Michigan farm, longtime Hallmark Channel star and “Chicago Med” alum Torrey DeVitto is a first-time mom at age 40.

Late in the day on December 20, 2024, the “Love’s Greek to Me” actress shared a birthday post dedicated to her husband, Jared LaPine, that featured a photo of him holding their newborn daughter in the hospital.

“Happy birthday to my husband, the man who makes all my dreams come true daily,” DeVitto wrote. “The greatest accomplishment I’ve ever achieved was giving our daughter an incredible dad like you. We love you so much! 🖤”

DeVitto did not share their baby girl’s name or birthdate, but she had previously said her due date was November 24.

Weeks Before Birth, Torrey DeVitto Said Pregnancy Was Far More Challenging Than She Expected

Less than an hour after DeVitto’s post, over 14,000 fans had liked it and hundreds commented with good wishes for LaPine and excitement over their baby news. Their daughter’s arrival is the latest major shift in DeVitto’s life.

After a whirlwind romance with LaPine in 2023, DeVitto announced their engagement in September 2023. The actress, whose first Hallmark movie aired in 2014 while she was starring in “Pretty Little Liars,” per IMDb, announced the following May that she and LaPine were expecting a child together.

Posting two Instagram photos of her and LaPine, with her resting her hand on her baby bump, DeVitto wrote, “Baby girl arriving this November.”

But her pregnancy was not easy, she told the hosts of “The Mother Daze” podcast on November 7.

“I feel like everything that could possibly happen is happening,” she laughed. “I can’t breathe, my acid reflux is on fire, I’ve been nauseous the whole time, and my swelling is out of control.”

“I thought I’d just have a cute belly, nothing else would change, I’d be meditating and journaling every day, and I’m just like a sweaty pig every day,” she joked.

Getting Pregnant Via IVF Was Also Challenging for Torrey DeVitto

In July, while appearing on the “Broad Ideas” podcast with co-hosts Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen, DeVitto shared that her due date was November 24 and that, after wanting for years to become a mom, she got pregnant via IVF. She said the process was harder than she expected because she “constantly” felt like she was in her “worst moment of PMS.”

DeVitt added, “When you’re doing the shots, you start to … feel like a bit of a lab rat too, because you do the shots every day. And then at one point, you have to go get your blood drawn every other day for, like, weeks at a time. So you’re like, constantly with bruises … and then you don’t even know if it’s gonna work.”

Fortunately for DeVitto and LaPine, the process did work for them on their first round of IVF, she said, and she expressed how grateful she was for that, noting that many couples try for years without success.
