Major Movie Actress Diagnosed With Brain Blood Clot During Pregnancy

“Wonder Woman” actress Gal Gadot had a major health scare in early 2024. In a candid Instagram caption uploaded on December 29, Gadot revealed that she had a “massive blood clot” in her brain — during her third trimester of pregnancy.

“For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth. In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live,” Gadot wrote.

We rushed to the hospital, and within hours, I underwent emergency surgery. My daughter, Ori, was born during that moment of uncertainty and fear. Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel,” she continued.

Gadot went on to thank her doctors at Cedars Sinai hospital before sharing that she’s doing well heading into 2025.

After Gadot shared her story, she received a great deal of love and support from colleagues, friends, and fans.

“This is worth more than many posts! Lead with light. Good luck in 2025,” one person wrote.

“Wonder woman in movies and a wonder woman in real life,” someone else added.

“My daughter was my light when I she was born (I was pregnant and had cancer). So I understand. She is 11 now. Hugs from Sweden,” a third Instagram user weighed in.

“As a physician I’m especially thankful that you shared your story and that others can learn from your experience. Blood clots in the legs are much more common, treatable and if untreated can cause catastrophic pulmonary embolism. Childbirth is a miracle and part of this miracle is that so much can go wrong, but usually doesn’t,” a fourth comment read.

Gal Gadot Previously Said She Had a Tough Pregnancy

Back in March, Gadot shared a post of her newborn baby, Obi.

“My sweet girl, welcome. The pregnancy was not easy and we made it through. You have brought so much light into our lives, living up to your name, Ori, which means ‘my light’ in Hebrew. Our hearts are full of gratitude,” she said at the time.

Flash forward 9 months and Gadot decided to share details of what made her fourth pregnancy so challenging. She also shared some statistics about cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT).

“I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group are diagnosed with CVT (develop a blood clot in the brain),” she wrote.“It’s so important to identify early because it’s treatable. While rare, it’s a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it. Sharing this is not meant to frighten anyone but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing,” she added.
