Gwen Stefani first met Blake Shelton while working on “The Voice.” The two seemed to hit it off and really bonded over their respective divorces. However, Stefani almost ended things early on because she was going through too much.
“We had just met, and it was chaos. Both of our lives were in complete turmoil, all over the ground. Nothing could save us at that point. There was a point where I was like, ‘I can’t even talk to you. This is insane. I already have enough problems. This is not happening anymore. We’re not going to text or nothing,’” she told People magazine.
Shelton was persistent without overstepping the boundary that Stefani put in place. He texted her some song lyrics and asked for some help with the second verse.
“That was our first song that we ever wrote together. We were never even in the same room, but we were writing a song to each other,” Stefani shared. The song ended up being “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” which the now-married couple released in 2016.

In an interview with The Guardian, Stefani admitted that she didn’t even know who Shelton was when they first met.
“I never listened to country music, so while Blake was super successful, I never even knew he existed before I met him,” she told the outlet.
Nevertheless, there was something about Shelton that Stefani couldn’t ignore.
Stefani split from Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale in 2015 and didn’t think she’d ever find love again.
“Meeting my husband felt like a second chance at life, but God put this other person there to love me,” she told The Guardian.
“I know this sounds weird, but Blake and I came together in gardening. We have a house together in Oklahoma and during the pandemic we came across this very old building on the land and there were some purple irises, which someone must have planted centuries ago, but they’ve survived,” she added.

Stefani and Shelton’s love story took the entertainment world by storm. The two tied the knot in 2021 and have been loved up ever since.
The couple is super supportive of each another and there’s no shyness about it.
“Setting here watching @gwenstefani rehearsals it continues to shock me the amount of GIANT hits this girl has written… I highly recommend y’all catch her Vegas show if you can get tickets!!!” Shelton posted on Twitter in June 2018.
