“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said in a statement to People magazine. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family,” she added.
Simpson and Johnson tied the knot in 2014. They have three kids together; Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.

On November 11, Simpson shared a curious message on Instagram.
“Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic. This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve,” she captioned the post.
Dozens of fans assumed that the message implied that Simpson was single.
“Is this j simp saying she’s single?” one person asked.
“Yep, called this a while ago. We love you. Stay strong,” someone else said.
“She stopped posting about him a while ago and none of her pictures ever have a wedding ring,” a third comment read.
“Just hope she doesn’t have to pay alimony. She is killing it!!!!!! Nothing is worth our peace!!!!! Continuing to slay – the early 2000s millennials love you forever,” a fourth Instagram user added.
Rumors That Jessica Simpson’s Marriage Was Over Have Circulated for Weeks
There have been quite a few signs that Simpson and Johnson’s marriage had come to an end. In recent months, she’s been posting photos with wearing her wedding ring. Moreover, she hasn’t shared any photos of Johnson since April 2024.
On November 12, TMZ reported that two people close to Simpson had reached out to divorce attorneys in Los Angeles.
Then, a source came forward and said that Simpson and Johnson hadn’t been seen together at their kids’ school.
“In years past, Jess always attended events at the school either solo or with Eric. Never Eric alone. But recently it’s just been Eric,” a source told Page Six. “As you can imagine, there’s been a lot of gossip among the parents,” the source added.
