Catherine, Princess of Wales, visited with cancer patients at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London on January 14, 2025. The hospital is the same one that treated the princess when she was diagnosed with cancer last year.
“The Princess wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world leading care and treatment the Marsden provides,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement obtained by People magazine.
The princess wore a three quarter sleeve deep red dress and a pair of brown pumps. The visit marked Kate’s first public appearance at the hospital since she announced that she’s cancer free.
Prince William & Kate Middleton Became ‘Joint Patrons’ of Royal Marsden
Middleton’s visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital was followed by a special announcement. She and her husband have become Joint Patrons of the hospital. A royal patronage occurs when a member or members of the royal family publicly support an organization or cause, raising awareness.
“We were honoured to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales to The Royal Marsden in Chelsea this morning, and are delighted that Her Royal Highness is now joining His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in becoming Joint Patrons of our specialist cancer centre,” Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, said, per People.
According to their official website, the royal family has more than 1,000 patronages.

Shortly after Middleton’s appearance, Getty photographer Chris Jackson shared some photos of the outing on X. Many people reacted to the pictures — and to the news that the Prince and Princess of Wales have added the Royal Marsden Hospital to their list of patronages.
“Fantastic to see Catherine do this! Great to see her looking well. Going to be a fabulous Queen,” one person wrote.
“So lovely to see The Princess of Wales looking healthy and lovely as always,” someone else added.
“Lovely Princess, it was a difficult year. She left her mark, her strength, her tears and being able to thank everyone and help with a word of encouragement is so sweet and grateful. I am happy to see her getting her life back on track and stronger to soon be queen,” a third comment read.
Many others called Kate the “People’s Princess,” a name fondly used to refer to Princess Diana.
