In a wide-ranging interview that included photos of her with a new look, actress Renee Zellweger opened up about why she quit acting for several years.
The January 15 article in British Vogue was written by actor Hugh Grant. It includes photos of Zellweger with a much shorter hairstyle. According to Vogue, Zellweger is reprising her Bridget Jones’ character in a new Peacock Original, “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” which premieres on February 14.

The trailer shows that the Bridget Jones character will be a widow with two kids.
Grant asked Zellweger why she took a break from acting from 2010 through 2016. “Because I needed to. I was sick of the sound of my own voice. When I was working, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?’ It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences,” she told him.
“I’m actually just very boring. Meanwhile you’re fascinating, with a vast hidden trove of outstanding skills. You’re hilariously brilliant at everything you hate. And, though you hate humans, you’re a very good and loyal friend. I like you very much. And I love working with you,” she told Grant in the interview.

Of her iconic character Bridget Jones, Zellweger said to Vogue, “I love her. And her story is not finished.”
Asked to explain the character’s appeal, Zellweger responded, “I think maybe folks recognise themselves in her and relate to her struggles and feelings of self-doubt. Bridget is authentically herself and doesn’t always get it right, but whatever her imperfections, she remains joyful and optimistic, carries on and triumphs in her own way.”
Although Bridget Jones is notorious for her dating troubles, Zellweger is dating Ant Anstead, a “British television personality,” Page Six reported.

She explained her fitness approach, “I run for my sanity.”
Grant asked what she did when she wasn’t acting.
“I wrote music and studied international law. I built a house, rescued a pair of older doggies, created a partnership that led to a production company, advocated for and fundraised with a sick friend, and spent a lot of time with family and godchildren and driving across the country with the dogs. I got healthy,” Zellweger told Grant in the interview.
She previously spoke about aging in a 2019 interview with InStyle. “It’s not aging. It’s growing! It’s acquisition of the most valuable things: experience and knowledge and grace and insight,” Zellweger told that publication.
