A former lead from “The Bachelorette” had a brief return to reality television derailed by an injury. Ali Fedotowsky was a cast member of “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” season 3, alongside fellow “Bachelorette” alum Trista Sutter.
Unfortunately, very early on during filming, Fedotowsky hurt her finger. Ahead of the latest episode airing, she gave fans a heads-up about how it impacted her experience.
The Medic Insisted Ali Fedotowsky Withdraw From ‘Special Forces’
On January 15, Fedotowsky shared her update via her Instagram page. She began, “I promised you guys to give you all the info about what happened to my hand on Special Forces. Here it is.”
Fedotowsky explained that she took videos of what happened at the time, knowing she would eventually want to share them.
She added, “I know a lot of you were hoping that I was gonna be back in tonight’s episode based on how quickly everything wrapped up last week, but I’m bummed to tell you I won’t be.”
“My injury just ended up being a bad sprain, but I understand why the medic made the call he made even though [it] still feels very unfair.”
Fedotowsky revealed she never initiated a visit to the medic. Instead, she explained, “He came to our barracks to check on some people with hypothermia and I asked him for some tape and ibuprofen and that’s when he looked at my hand and told me to come to his office. I just wanted advil! Ha!”
Although she had the support of production in deciding to continue, “Once the medic makes the call nobody can go against it,” she noted. Fedotowsky shared she had trained hard to do the show, and had been determined that she would either make it to the end or leave due to a medical issue.
‘The Bachelorette’ Star Was Devastated
Fedotowsky emphasized she was quite disappointed by the medic’s decision. “I wanted the experience so badly,” she wrote.
Her experience on “Special Forces” was brief, but Fedotwoswky shared, “I’m still so incredibly grateful for the experience. It’s changed the way I feel about pushing myself in my body to its limits and change the way I think about strength and health.”
The first photo in Fedotowsky’s Instagram post showed her now-healed finger. In a series of videos, she chronicled the aftermath of leaving the competition. She was emotional and noted that at the time, a doctor thought she may have torn her tendon away from her bone.
Once Fedotowsky returned home and saw a specialist, the doctor determined it had been just a sprain. Despite her intense disappointment and frustration, the former “Bachelorette” star acknowledged the medic made the right call.
The upside, Fedotowsky admitted, was she made it home in time to see her son Riley’s preschool graduation. She also suggested several times she would love to return if there was ever a redemption season of the show.
Fans flooded the comments section of Fedotowsky’s Instagram post with love and support.
One Instagram user wrote, “That finger looks bad though! I’m shocked it wasn’t broken! Glad you are okay and what a beautiful example you are to your precious babies!”
Another shared, “I’m so sorry! You did amazing! You are strength, kindness, and beauty all in one! The skills you did were incredible! You can tell you trained really hard for it!”
