Season 12 “Dancing With the Stars” alum Wendy Williams is making headlines this week. The former talk show host is hitting back at reports that she’s incapable of taking care of herself.
In an interview with “The Breakfast Club” on January 16, Williams revealed that she’s broke.
“I have $15. I have $15. What does that do? My money is in prison,” she said. Williams is currently living in a treatment facility in New York.
“I am not cognitively impaired, but I feel like I am in prison. I’m in this place where the people are in their 90s and their 80s and their 70s. There’s something wrong with these people here on this floor,” she added.
Fans have raised money for Williams after friends set up a GoFundMe in an effort to help her through this trying time. A $50,000 goal has been set.

Donations for Williams have already started pouring in.
“Wendy’s family is passionately advocating for her return to Florida, where she can once again be surrounded by the love and support of those who care about her. They are suffering emotionally as they witness the toll her isolation is taking on her well-being,” part of the fundraiser’s description reads.
“Unfortunately, they have exhausted their financial resources in their fight against this unjust guardianship and are in dire need of assistance to secure legal representation. Legal services can be prohibitively expensive, and without our support, they may struggle to navigate the complexities of the situation,” it continues.
As of January 19, people have donated more than $20,000.
Wendy Williams’ Brother Believes She’s Getting the Help That She Needs
While some people in Williams’ camp are doing all that they can to get her back to her home in Florida, some of her family members believe she’s getting the help that she needs.
“When I speak to Wendy she sounds fine. Wendy has improved,” Williams’ brother Tommy Williams told Us Weekly. “I know my sister from where she was to where she is now, and she has a substantial amount of improvement. It’s dialogue and conversation, topics, content, speech pattern, everything.”
He went on to say that Williams’ “past behaviors” were noticeably different.
“The past was obvious. We saw it. She was in a worse state, and the [documentary] movie depicted it. Now [she is in] a different state,” he said of the Lifetime special, “Where Is Wendy Williams” The show aired in February 2024.
