Jessica Simpson returned to Instagram for the first time since news of her split from Eric Johnson broke. On January 19, the singer shared a picture of her and her mom, Tina, in honor of her birthday.
“YOU ARE THE GOAT. Every single sunrise and sunset and especially on a full moon there’s nobody in this world I’d rather be loved by than you. I love to love you, make you proud, hug you and work alongside you each and every day for eternity! Thank you for making me a priority and for always giving me the no matter what kind of love,” part of Simpson’s lengthy birthday tribute read.
While some people took to the comments section to wish Tina a happy birthday, others couldn’t believe how different she looks.

In Simpson’s snap, her mom rocked long, light brown hair, with bangs. She wore a cream colored top, heavy eye makeup, and a nude lip.
Shortly after Simpson uploaded the snap, dozens of fans took tot he comment section to react.
“This is Tina?????” one person asked.
“Omg that looks nothing like Tina,” someone else said.
“Who is that? Does not look like her mom,” a third comment read.
“I honestly thought it was @ashleesimpsonross ! You guys are so pretty,” a fourth Instagram user added.
“That’s NOT the way I remember her mom looking at all,” another weighed in.
Jessica Simpson Released a Statement About Her Divorce
After weeks of speculation about Simpson’s marriage, she confirmed the split in a statement on January 14.
“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson said in a statement to People magazine. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family,” she added.
Simpson hasn’t posted anything about Johnson on social media in months. In September 2024, she shared a rare photo of her three children.
“Maxwell, Ace and Birdie y’all make your Mom beam with smiles and grace ! Keep on showin’ up for yourselves with each step of the way through this new school year! I’m so very proud of y’all for individually shining your light so that in return others feel the glow,” she captioned the post.
