The Hallmark Channel’s newest movie, “The Perfect Setting,” premieres on Saturday, January 25, at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. The movie stars Laci J. Mailey and David Elsendoorn. Read on to learn all about where the movie was filmed and see behind-the-scenes stories from the cast.
‘The Perfect Setting’ Was Filmed in Belgium & Canada
According to IMDb, “The Perfect Setting” was filmed on location in Belgium. Some of the locations included:

Mechelen, Antwerp Province
Parade notes that the movie was also filmed in Ottawa, Canada. Actor Hans Royaards confirmed this in a LinkedIn post, where he wrote (translated into English): “Had a fantastic adventure this month in Ottowa Canada where I got to play the lead role in a TV movie of Hallmark ‘A Perfect Setting’ # 3. All in English. I had already worked with the Canadian director a few years ago.”
Russ Goozee, cinematographer, posted in November about how excited he was to be filming a Hallmark movie in Belgium. He took a photo of a bridge they were filming on in Mechelen.
He also shared their final shot in Mechelen. “So thankful to be here and to have filmed such amazingly beautiful locations,” he wrote.
On November 14, they filmed near a school, he shared.
“Feeling lucky that I’m doing another movie in the beautiful country of Belgium,” he wrote on November 12.
On November 14, director Jonathan Wright shared a photo with Mailey while filming in the Grote Market.

Meet the Cast
Hallmark’s synopsis reads: “The synopsis reads “An aspiring jewelry designer returns to Belgium to visit her grandfather and hopefully win the Valentine’s Day Diamond Contest.”
Laci J. Mailey plays Abby. According to her bio, she first gained widespread recognition for her recurring role in “Falling Skies.” Mailey has also played roles in the second season of the CBC series “The Romeo Section.” She’s also well known for her lead role on Hallmark’s series “Chesapeake Shores.”
After graduating high school, she attended Vancouver Film School and furthered her studies in New York City and Los Angeles. She owns Good Fruit Productions.
David Elsendoorn is Alexander. According to his bio, he’s well known around the world for portraying Jan Maas in the Emmy Award-winning Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso.” Born in Utrecht, The Netherlands, he is a graduate of the Amsterdam Theater School (AHK). His other credits include the film “The Resurrection of a Bastard” and the popular Dutch TV series “Spangas.”
