Guy Fieri Asks Fans for Help After LA Wildfires

Guy Fieri knows how difficult it can be to make a living in the food service industry. On February 3, he pledged to help hospitality workers who were impacted by the Southern California wildfires, while encouraging his followers to do the same.

On posts to both Instagram and Twitter, the Food Network star announced that the Guy Fieri Foundation was launching a $25,000 Matching Gift Challenge. Partnering with Restaurants Care, a program of the nonprofit California Restaurant Foundation, the Guy Fieri Foundation vowed to match all donations, up to $25,000, in support of food and beverage workers who were negatively affected by the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area.

“We can double the relief and hope for workers in need,” Fieri said. “Don’t wait—every dollar counts twice as much. Your support ensures we can step in quickly to provide direct relief to restaurant workers who have lost homes, income, and stability during the LA Fires.”

Guy Fieri Foundation Continues Supporting Hospitality Workers

The Press Democrat amplified a spokesperson for the Guy Fieri Foundation citing this as the latest example of the nonprofit organization stepping in to help after disaster strikes.

“The Guy Fieri Foundation has always looked for ways to support hospitality workers in need, as well as when needs hit Maui, Florida, North Carolina and now California,” Irika Slavin said.

Fieri Faces Challenges ‘Very Near and Dear To My Heart’

The charitable gesture came amidst an emotional time for the chef and entrepreneur. As reported by Delish, Fieri had a bittersweet celebration of his birthday on January 22, noting that it was his first birthday since the passing of his father on January 27, 2024.

Additionally, The Press Democrat reported that Fieri’s foundation led an effort that served over 15,000 meals between Jan. 13 and Jan. 22 to feed first responders battling the wildfires in Southern California. On January 17, Fieri posted a plea on Instagram for donations to support Restaurants Care.

“We’ve all seen the news and what’s happening down south in Los Angeles, it’s absolutely devastating,” he said. “People need help far and wide, but one specific group that’s very near and dear to my heart, you would know, is the restaurant workers that have been displaced and impacted by these fires. To that end, there’s a nonprofit doing incredible work right now in LA called Restaurants Care. Restaurants Care is launching a fund to provide crisis grants for food and beverage workers displaced or out of work. Now, since 2017 they have helped 1000s of people with crisis grants. So let’s turn this, let’s turn compassion into action. Donate to Restaurants Care. The link is in the bio below and it doesn’t matter if it’s five bucks, 50,000 bucks. It all adds up and when we put it to great use, any size donation matters and like I always say, ‘Go big or go home.’ Thank you for helping cooks, dishwasher servers, everybody in the business, find some stability amid these unimaginable times. We can do this.”
