When Vin Diesel roars into America’s living rooms on Super Bowl Sunday, it may be just a commercial to you. But it’s so much more to him.
Diesel is reuniting with his old “Fast & Furious” co-star Michelle Rodriguez for their new Häagen-Dazs Super Bowl commercial titled “NOT SO FAST, NOT SO FURIOUS.”
The pair slow things down to enjoy ice cream as they drive along the California coast. Rapper Ludacris, who first appeared in the “Fast & Furious” franchise with “2 Fast & 2 Furious,” even passes them, yelling, “Hey, what happened to fast life?” “Not today,” Diesel replies.
Diesel Revved Up to Recharge the “Fast & Furious” Franchise
But while Diesel may have been taking things slow for gourmet ice cream, the commercial has him excited to suit back up as Dom Toretto and revive the franchise.
In an Instagram post about shooting the commercial, Diesel wrote, “25 years ago on the streets of Los Angeles, we created something that became bigger than any of us could have imagined. Not just a movie—but a family that stretches across the globe.
Being on PCH, filming this Super Bowl spot, brought it all rushing back. The same stretch of coast where Pablo and I raced 25 years ago, practical driving, living those moments that would change our lives forever.
Now here we are again, Dom and Letty sharing that coastal sunset moment, surrounded by local crew members I haven’t seen in years…

Diesel’s Instagram Post Refers to Lost Co-Star Paul Walker
In the Instagram post, in the line “The same stretch of coast where Pablo and I raced 25 years ago, practical driving, living those moments that would change our lives forever,” the “Pablo” Diesel is referring to is “Fast & Furious” co-star Paul Walker.
Walker lost his life in 2013 when a Porsche he was riding in lost control, crashed and caught fire. “Fast & Furious 7” was in production at the time. After a long pause, that film was completed using stand-ins including Walker’s brothers Cody and Caleb.
“Fast & Furious” Sequel to Be Filmed in LA
The idea to revive the franchise is more than a pipedream. “Fast X: Part 2” is already in production.
But the devastating wildfires that have ravaged LA have inspired filmmakers to shoot the rest of the film in Los Angeles. According to Diesel, that idea came from co-star Jordana Brewster.
In an Instagram post, Diesel said Jordana reached out to him to ask if the rest of the film could be shot in LA to help the city.
“Fast X: Part 2” is the 11th film in the “Fast & Furious” franchise. It picks up where 2023’s “Fast X” left off. It’s widely speculated that “Fast X: Part 2” will be the final chapter in the franchise, which began in 2001. A release date has not been announced.
