Austen Kroll and Patricia Altschul broke their silence over Craig Conover’s split from Paige DeSorbo—and they did not hold back.
The “Southern Charm” stars appeared on the January 30 edition of “Watch What Happens Live” and were immediately asked about the former couple’s breakup after three years of dating.
“Was I surprised?” Kroll replied when asked about Conover and DeSorbo’s breakup. “I feel like, I know it’s a blah kind of answer, but the writing was on the wall. And I knew something was amiss for a month or so before I heard the news.”
When host Andy Cohen turned to Altschul, she agreed. “I thought that Paige was mean to Craig,” the “Southern Charm” matriarch said. “I did. And if you think back, Naomie [Olindo] was mean to Craig. And I think he deserves somebody who would really love and cherish him. Because remember, he said to [Paige] ‘I want to get married and have kids’ and she said, ‘Bleh?’”
“I mean, she definitely was the dominant person in the relationship,” Kroll added of DeSorbo. “That’s a nice way of saying it.”
On the December 30, 2024, episode of the “Giggly Squad” podcast, it was DeSorbo who broke the breakup news to fans. “Craig and I have decided to no longer be together,” the “Summer House” star said. “I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn’t want. … I think it is the right decision for both of us.”
She said she hoped to remain friends with Conover. He has since unfollowed her on Instagram.
Austen Kroll Claimed Rumors About Paige DeSorbo Moving On Aren’t Rumors
Kroll was also hit with a fan question about rumors that DeSorbo has “moved on with another guy” just one month after announcing her breakup from Conover. There have been rumors that DeSorbo has been seeing sports agent Joe D’Amelio after she reportedly spent New Year’s Eve with him and was spotted with him at a Philadelphia Eagles playoff game earlier this month.
Kroll told Cohen he does not believe the stories about DeSorbo moving on are “rumors” at all. “I don’t think that those are rumors,” he said, without giving names. “I think that they’ve been substantiated, and I think Craig knows as such. You know, he didn’t know for a minute, but yeah, I think that he’s fully come to terms with that. That’s not a rumor.”
DeSorbo has described herself as single. On her “Giggly Squad” podcast, the 32-year-old Bravo star admitted it felt “weird” to be single in her 30s. “I’ve done a couple of dinners with my girlfriends,” she said in mid-January. “I haven’t gone out out yet.”
DeSorbo posted an Instagram comment hours after Kroll appeared on”‘Watch What Happens Live” on January 30. After Kroll said the rumor that DeSorbo had already moved on was not a rumor, the “Summer House” star commented on Bravo’s Instagram page. “Ahhh yes a man I haven’t spoken To in 6 months knows exactly what I’m doing,” she wrote.
Craig Conover Joined a Dating App
Conover has made no secret of his desire to get married and start a family. In the “Southern Charm” season 10 episode “Overtures and Outbursts”, which was filmed in 2024 when he was still with DeSorbo, he said, “If it was up to me, we would just be engaged. But she (Paige) changes her mind a lot about stuff.”
On WWHL, Kroll and Altschul agreed that they knew Conover’s relationship with DeSorbo wouldn’t last. In a WWHL game, “Baba-Do or Baba-Don’t,” they were also asked if they thought Conover would find a new lady and “be engaged in a year.” Altschul answered that she thought he would, while Kroll wasn’t as sure..
According to Us Weekly, one month after his split from DeSorbo, Conover, 35, was spotted on the dating app Raya. Per the outlet, the Sewing Down South founder described himself as “based in Charleston and often visits New York.” The “Southern Charm” OG also shared that his interests include “elephants and snowboarding.”
