The Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show will take place in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 9, 2025.
The halftime show will feature “the first solo rap artist to headline a Super Bowl halftime show,” according to ESPN.
Super Bowl 59 starts at 6:30 p.m. EST. Al-Jazeera calls it a “12- to 15-minute musical extravaganza.”

Lamar announced the big news on X last fall.
“Super Bowl LIX. New Orleans,” he wrote on X, sharing a YouTube video that showed him shooting out footballs from a passing machine on a field. “I’ll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Will you be pulling up? I hope so,” he said in the video.
” . . . I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans. February 9, 2025.”
Fans responded favorably to the news. “He’s having one of the greatest years of his life without even releasing an album. Legend,” wrote one.
Kendrick Lamar Says He Will Focus on ‘Storytelling’

Lamar gave a hint of what people should expect when he discussed the half-time show at a public appearance posted to YouTube by the Associated Press.
“I’ve always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog and my history of music,” Lamar said.
“And I’ve always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I’m on, whether it’s a world tour or whether it’s 500 people at Key Club, I’ve always had a form of that. So I like to always carry on that sense of, make people listen, but also see and think a little.”
He added, “Everything be moving fast, far as production and rehearsals and stuff. So we speak but we haven’t really got a chance to settle into the moment.”

The NFL has also announced a slate of other performers.
“The star-studded lineup of Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty, Lauren Daigle and Ledisi honors the legendary music scene of New Orleans and features artists who call Louisiana home,” the NFL announced.
“We’re honored to work with this year’s pregame lineup to celebrate the rich musical legacy of New Orleans and the entire state,” said Seth Dudowsky, head of music at the NFL, in a statement posted by the League. “The Super Bowl is a rare moment to unite fans around the world, and this year’s performers will bring the energy, soul and vibrant sounds of the region to a global stage, as we kickoff Super Bowl LIX with a celebration to remember.”
“Acclaimed musical artist Jon Batiste will perform the national anthem,” the NFL says.
