Sabrina Carpenter Channels Marilyn Monroe and Madonna [PHOTOS]

Fresh off her Grammy triumphs, Sabrina Carpenter is going for icon status with her first-ever Vogue magazine cover. And the 25-year-old singer is channeling two legends to do it.

Blonde Ambition: Sabrina Carpenter Leans Into Bombshell Vibe

Vogue’s March 2025 issue, which dropped February 11, features the singer on the cover.

Photographed by the legendary Steven Meisel, Carpenter is wearing a custom blue Dolce & Gabbana corset for the cover photo that many are comparing to singer Madonna’s iconic satin cone-bra bodysuit that she wore during her 1990 “Blonde Ambition Tour.” Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet Tour” also featured a lingerie-inspired wardrobe.

In the accompanying article, Carpenter says the look is a true representation of who she is. “Short n’ Sweet is absolutely me,” she said. “There’s no, like, alter ego. But it’s definitely a more emphasized version of me. It’s interesting because I’m able to dress in this way where you would kind of expect to hear like a voice from the ’60s. But then, when I’m speaking to the audience, I’m just myself.”

Photos Bring Out Sabrina Carpenter’s Inner Marilyn Monroe

But it’s also impossible to miss the nod to another blonde bombshell, actress Marilyn Monroe, in the Meisel photos.

According to US magazine, the shoot’s hairstylist Guido Palau gave Carpenter’s platinum blonde locks “a Marilyn-worthy makeover, courtesy of big-barrel coils with her bangs voluminous curled. Thanks to Pat McGrath, her makeup featured a dewy base, filled in eyebrows, bronze eyeshadow, winged eyeliner and lined lips.”

Many of the poses in the photos also give off a Marilyn Monroe vibe.

Carpenter Spoofs Herself for Vogue Interview

Carpenter had a little fun with the Vogue shoot, posing as “Katrina Sharpenter” to interview herself for “The Short Report.”

When Carpenter takes a sip of what we assume is espresso, alter-ego “Sharpenter” says, “You know you shouldn’t drink that. It might stunt your growth.” The interviewer then gets “serious” asking, “I have to address the rumors. You have been accused by the FBI of running a nationwide cult. Do you deny the allegations?” Carpenter replies, “They’re called fans.”

She also appears in a weather report skit for Vogue’s TikTok channel, playing both the main anchor “Sabrina Sharpenter” and weather forecaster “Sabrina Barbenter.” When Barbenter stands silently in front of a weather map, Sharpenter says, “I notice you’re holding an umbrella. Is it raining?” Barbenter replies, “Lemme check,” then throws down the umbrella and gets on her cell phone.

Singer Showed Off Sense of Humor in Grammy Performance

The “Espresso” singer took home 2025 Grammy Awards for best pop vocal album and best pop solo performance for “Espresso.” But she’s getting just as much attention for her performance on the Grammy stage as she is for the wins.

What initially looked like a series of mishaps where the singer struggled to find the spotlight, dropped her baton and descended some steps that took her below the stage, actually turned out to be a calculated comedic performance that had the audience and fans at home cheering.

In an Instagram post by the Recording Academy, one fan commented “she is adorable. my first time watching her perform. i couldn’t take my eyes off her. ❤️” Another said, “Sabrina’s performance was so adorable>
