Three and a half decades after Meg Ryan’s Sally Albright famously faked an orgasm to prove a point to Billy Crystal’s Harry Burns, the duo is back together — with a bit of assistance from the “Anyone But You” actress, Sydney Sweeney.

“There was some talk early on about, ‘Who are we gonna get for the cameo role? Who’s gonna end the spot?’ It’s such an iconic line, and ‘When Harry Met Sally’ is such an iconic rom-com and a moment for Meg, obviously, that we’re re-creating,” Director Jake Szymanski told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I kind of like that Sydney is emerging as this new rom-com star … so I like that it was kind of like a mini passing of the torch to the next generation to have her at the end.”
The Hellmann’s Super Bowl commercial opens with Crystal musing, “I can’t believe they let us back into this place,” and Ryan brushes him off with the reply, “Nobody remembers that.” But when her turkey on rye sandwich proves lackluster, the addition of Hellmann’s mayo prompts Sally to experience the same gratifying pleasure as she did almost 40 years ago, as Harry jokes, “This one’s real.” The camera pans over to Sweeney, who says the classic line: “I’ll have what she’s having.”
Sydney Sweeney Would Cast Paul Mescal as Harry to Her Sally

For Sweeney, who admitted to Cosmopolitan that she’s “a sucker for old rom-coms,” being asked to take part in the Superbowl ad with Crystal and Ryan felt like a dream.
“Honestly, it’s been such a surreal experience because I really feel like they are part of the films that paved the way for the rom-com genre and it’s evident in how many people love those films,” Sweeney told the magazine. “Being able to be in this moment with them and especially recreating such an iconic moment…I don’t know what life is right now. It’s really, really cool.”
While Sweeney may still be getting over the shock of recreating such a legendary scene, she does have an idea for who her next romantic comedy co-star should be. She told Cosmopolitan that if she were playing Sally in a 2025 remake of the iconic movie, she’d cast “Gladiator II” actor Paul Mescal as her Harry.
“Oh my goodness. I just watched “Gladiator II,” so I’d love to work with Paul Mescal,” she gushed. “I think he’s amazing and I’d love to see him in a really fun rom-com. I feel like we need him in a rom-com.”
