Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton are channeling another famous duo for the new music video featuring their collaboration on Carpenter’s hit song “Please Please Please.” In the new video, the pair go on a “Thelma and Louise” style road trip in an old pickup truck, with a little surprise in the back.
New Video Features Some Possible Easter Eggs
Carpenter dropped the new version of her 2024 hit “Please Please Please” featuring Parton on Valentine’s Day. It’s part of the new deluxe edition of her album Short n’ Sweet, which also dropped February 14.
But despite its release date on the romantic holiday, this country-sounding version of “Please Please Please” isn’t feeling the love. In fact, it seems give a not-so-subtle dig at Carpenter’s ex, actor Barry Keoghan. The video’s plot unfolds as Dolly and Sabrina run from the law with a man tied up in the back of the pickup, alongside a shovel.
Keoghan was famously featured in the video for the original version of the song, which was shot when the pair were still dating.
In that video, the then-couple start a relationship after getting out of jail. But when Keoghan is arrested again, Carpenter takes matters into her own hands. She handcuffs him to a chair and tapes his mouth shut before planting a kiss on his lips and leaving him in an empty warehouse.
Carpenter and Keoghan ended their year-long relationship in December.
Carpenter Changes Lyrics for the Queen of Country
The new version of the song also features a lyric change, with Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton singing, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me, like the others,” instead of the original, “I beg you, don’t embarrass me” and then an expletive.
Dolly teased Sabrina about some of her lyrics, saying “You and your dirty words! I can’t say them words for my kids.”

On her Instagram account, Dolly Parton posted a video of the two meeting, with the caption, “Turns out, two things can be short and sweet 😉 Listen to “Please Please Please (feat. Dolly Parton)” everywhere now! ❤️”
In the clip, the pair banter back and forth, mixing in snippets of singing the song. “You had to get your Dolly in there, didn’t you?” Parton asks Carpenter. “I mean… I want Dolly in everything,” Carpenter replies. After Dolly thanks Carpenter for including her in the song, Carpenter says, “Thank you for being you.”
Dolly also warns Carpenter, “Befores and Afters. You’ll be this old someday.” Carpenter responds, “I know, I can’t wait! I hope I look like you!”

Carpenter’s Deluxe Album Features Four New Tracks
In addition to the reboot of “Please, Please, Please,” the deluxe version of the “Short n’ Sweet” album features four new songs: “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Bad Reviews” and “Busy Woman,” which Carpenter debuted live during her sold out “Short n’ Sweet Tour.”
