Shakira Just Opened Tour Throughout Western Hemisphere With Shows in Brazil

As reported by Billboard, Shakira had just began her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, with opening night held February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, followed by a February 13 show in São Paulo, Brazil. They were the first of 30-plus shows that she was scheduled to headline throughout Peru, Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the United States and Canada.

Shakira posted on Instagram early on the day of the tour opener that she had been preparing 14 hours a day for an entire year “to give you the best show of my life.”

“I know that perfection doesn’t exist,” she wrote, “but I do know that tonight I will give myself to you just as I am, with a voice sharpened by experience and skin marked by every battle won and lost.”

Shakira had initially been scheduled to play two nights at Estadio Nacional in Lima, and as indicated in the statement, there has been no decision made regarding the February 17 performance.

“I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today (February 16),” she wrote. “I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru.

Shakira Upgrades North America Tour from Arenas to Stadiums to Meet Ticket Demand

GettyColombian singer Shakira performs during the worldwide launch of her ‘Las Mujeres ya no Lloran’ tour at Nilton Santos stadium in Rio de Janeiro on February 11, 2025.

An article in People reported that the North American leg of Shakira’s tour was originally scheduled to take place in 2024 with several arena shows, marking her first tour in the region since 2018. However, those dates were postponed due to high demand for tickets, and in October 2024, a string of stadium shows to accommodate more fans was announced, beginning May 13, in Charlotte, N.C., at the Bank of America Stadium and running through June 30, in San Francisco at Oracle Park.

As noted in the article, Shakira shared the announcement via Instagram Stories on October 18, 2024, opening the statement by stating, “My dear fans, Your incredible support since my tour announcement has truly been extraordinary, and it’s already making this the biggest tour of my career.”
