Forget the Sound of Silence! Legendary musician Paul Simon is coming out of retirement and going on tour!
Just days after performing with Sabrina Carpenter on SNL50: The Anniversary Show, Paul Simon has announced a 20-stop North American tour beginning in April.
Fans Delighted By Paul Simon’s Return from Retirement
Fans were thrilled to see Simon on stage singing his 1966 hit “Homeward Bound” with Sabrina Carpenter in Sunday’s SNL50: The Anniversary Show. When NBC posted the performance on Instagram, viewers commented, “Such a lovely way to set the tone for the evening ❤️” and “Love him so much. A true poet! ❤️”
But they were even more delighted to hear that the 83-year-old singer is going back on tour.
Paul Simon told the world he was retiring in 2018 due to hearing loss. Now seven years later, he’s walking that back with a tour to support his latest album, Seven Psalms, that was released in May 2023.
A Quiet Celebration Tour Will Feature Intimate Venues
To accommodate his hearing loss, Simon says his A Quiet Celebration tour will be set in intimate venues where Simon’s sound system can be set up to help him hear.
According to a press release about the tour, the Grammy-winner worked with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss and his own production crew to configure his stage setup with “moving monitors to surround him” to offset his trouble hearing.
The Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famer plans to perform a mix of songs from Seven Psalms as well as “a celebration of his timeless classics.”

Paul Simon will kick off the tour April 4 in New Orleans.
