Actress Melanie Griffith has opened up about the one person she credits most with her success in life.
According to In Touch Weekly, that person is Griffith’s mom, the legendary actress Tippi Hedren.
The magazine reports that Hedren “always had her back and continues to be a real spitfire who keeps her grounded and on track to this day.”
Tippi Hedren, 95, has an Instagram page but hasn’t posted on it since 2021. In 2019, she posted a throwback picture showing her with Griffith on a movie set.

According to a source who spoke with In Touch Weekly, Griffith “credits her mom for everything she accomplished and more.”
Griffith is also the mother to a daughter, Dakota Johnson, with her ex-husband, Don Johnson. She also has daughter Stella with ex-husband Antonio Banderas and recently shared a video showing the two to her Instagram page.
“Tippi and Melanie are never far from each other’s thoughts and spend lots of time together,” the source told In Touch. “Melanie, her exes, her kids and their partners including Dakota and Chris (Martin) and Tippi – they’re all one big happy family. Tippi, at 95, is still the life force that keeps them all together.”
In 2019, Hedren shared an excerpt from her memoir to her Instagram page, writing, “All in all, it’s been a pretty amazing life for a small-town girl from Minnesota whose only dream was to be a figure skater. And I’m not done yet.”
She added, “I never set out to be famous, or a model, or an actress, or an animal rights activist, or a humanitarian. I just went where my heart led me, once I decided that being afraid was something I wasn’t going to do anymore, and it led me on an extraordinary journey.”

On January 20, Griffith posted a tribute to her mom, wishing her a happy 95th birthday.
“My beautiful Mama turned 95 yesterday! 🥰♥️🥰♥️🥰 She’s happy, healthy and feisty!!” she wrote, sharing a video showing a birthday cake and a smiling Hedren waving to the camera.
Griffith also wished her mom a happy 94th birthday on Instagram, writing, “Yesterday Mom aka MorMor turned 94!! Always up for a party! 🎉 💫✨💃🏼 Happy Birthday Mama ♥️ Tippi.”
In 2023, she shared a photo of her mother dressed up in a red blazer and wrote, “Mom….. ♥️…… theater day….. 93.”
“Thankful that my Mom is still here with us. ♥️” she wrote in 2022 on her Instagram page.
