Entertainer Michelle Trachtenberg has died at 39, according to the New York Post on February 26.

The New York Post reported that police confirmed the death of the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star. According to the outlet, sources told them Trachtenberg’s death is “not being investigated as suspicious.”

According to ABC 7, Trachtenberg’s mother found the entertainer in her New York City apartment on the morning of February 26. The outlet reported that Trachtenberg had recently had a liver transplant. ABC 7 added that their sources told them that she “may have been experiencing complications” after the transplant.

In the weeks before Trachtenberg’s heartbreaking death, the “Gossip Girl” star had seemed in good spirits in her recent social media posts, fans noticed.

Michelle Trachtenberg Last Teased She Wanted to Look Like a ‘Naughty Tinkerbell’

Trachtenberg’s last Instagram post was shared on February 18. It was an older photo and in the caption she wrote, “I wanted to look like naughty #tinkerbell.” She added a hashtag indicating it was a throwback photo.

On February 16, Trachtenberg shared another throwback photo. The picture showed her looking glamorous in the professional photo. She wrote, “#SundayScaries ain’t got nothing on me!” She added a blue heart emoji and a red lip emoji.

The day before that, on February 15, Trachtenberg posted an additional throwback professional photo. In the caption, she wrote, “A memory, a magical night in #newyork. I remember feeling like Cinderella! Wishing everyone an ethereal weekend.”

The comment sections of the posts were filled with sweet and supportive comments from fans.

One fan wrote she always looked like a “princess” and a “queen” in everything and added she was “amazing.”

A response on Trachtenberg’s last Instagram photo read, “I love this pic, absolutely stunning. 😍😍❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥”

“You will always be one of my favorite actresses… I just love y’all so much y’all are great and amazing. I missed you Michelle and can’t wait to see you in the Buffy reboot,” gushed another fan.

Many Fans Still Adored Trachtenberg for Her ‘Buffy’ Role

On February 12, Trachtenberg posted a selfie on her Instagram page. Her appearance was markedly different than the throwback photos, but fans still gushed over her.

“You have beautiful eyes miss Trachtenberg,” one fan wrote.

“Would absolutely LOVEEEE to see you as Dawn in the Buffy reboot! Forever a Dawn defender, and I think fans would be sad not getting updates on her and seeing her once again,” added another fan.

As Us Weekly noted, Trachtenberg’s breakout role came in 1996 when she had a role in “Harriet the Spy.” Many of her fans came after her time on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” During the series, Trachtenberg portrayed the character of Dawn, who was the younger sister to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character of Buffy.

Trachtenberg later also starred on “Gossip Girl” as Georgia Sparks.

The entertainer had not been active on the social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, since 2021. Her last post there was an announcement she would host a Tubi true crime docuseries titled “Meet, Marry, Murder.”

Her bio on X stated she was “an actress/producer/writer/believer in Unicorns.” Her Instagram bio also referenced her love for unicorns. “This is all make believe, but it’s my job to make them believe. Also I love Unicorns,” it read.
