HGTV stars Christina Haack and Tarek El Moussa may no longer be married, but the former couple are still looking out for one another. While the two prepare for their newest series, “The Flip Off”, to premiere on the network early next year, People obtained a sneak peek of the new show, which sees Christina breaking down in an emotional conversation about her current marriage to Josh Hall.
Hall was supposed to join Christina, Tarek, and Tarek’s wife Heather El Moussa in “The Flip Off”, but Christina made it clear that he would not be appearing on the show in the sneak peek. “Josh and I officially split up,” she said to kick off her chat with Tarek.
“We had a blow up… middle fingers in my face. Things with Josh have been bad for a long time,” Christina explained while beginning to cry. “The kids literally asked me to leave. They told me he’s not nice to me. Why would I stick around? I feel like I’m in a tornado all the time and I just can’t get out of it. Everything since like 2016 has been so hard and so horrible. It’s really taken a really bad toll on me.”

Tarek and Christina began dating in 2006 and tied the knot three years later, welcoming a daughter Taylor, who is now 14, in 2010, and a son Brayden, who is now 9, in 2015.
Since they ended their marriage in 2016 (finalizing the divorce in 2018), Tarek and Christina have each welcomed one more son into the world. Christina’s third son, Hudson, joined her and her second ex-husband, Ant Anstead, in 2019. Tarek and Heather welcomed their son Tristan in early 2023.
Tarek and Christina have always been relatively amicable when it comes to co-parenting their children alongside their new spouses, but it hasn’t been without its bumps in the road. In 2022, Heather opened up in an interview on the “Today” show where she explained, “It wasn’t always perfect, I mean we’ve definitely had some ups and downs, and they’ve had ups and downs. I think she realized how much I love the kids and how they are number one to me over anything. So any drama aside, the kids are the most important thing to all of us.”

Christina’s comments from the “Flip Off” sneak peek about everything after 2016 being “hard” may refer to everything that began after the end of her and Tarek’s marriage.
According to People, the straw that broke the camel’s back for Christina and Tarek’s marriage was a “blowup” fight that ended in Tarek leaving their family home and going for a walk in the woods with a pistol at his side. Christina called 911 and the police eventually arrived and found Tarek after searching in a helicopter.
“For the next several hours, I sat on a cooler on my driveway, handcuffed,” Tarek wrote in his book Flip Your Life. “That was the very last time we were together as a family: with Christina walking down the driveway, crying, and me sitting there in handcuffs, asking myself, What in the world is going on?”
