Former “Dancing With the Stars” co-host Brooke Burke has evacuated her Malibu-area home after a wildfire broke out not too far away.
“Prayers for Malibu…what a community. We love our home & we fight to protect it & somehow we remain disaster after disaster honoring this sacred space,” Burke captioned an Instagram post on December 11.
“I’m so grateful for all of our friends that have reached out & family, gardeners, helpers , neighbors & the 1000+ first responders, law enforcement, volunteers, & workers that helped save so much. So grateful for all the brave firefighters trying to navigate the uncertainty of Mother Nature & wicked winds. We are safe,” she added.
Burke went on to say that she’s “heartbroken” for her neighbors who have lost everything.
According to Cal Fire’s official website, the Franklin Fire is affecting 4,037 acres in Los Angeles County as of December 12. The wildfire started on December 9 and is currently 7% contained.
Dozens of People Reacted to Brooke Burke’s Post
After seeing the footage that Burke shared on social media, many people took to the comments section to react.
“Such an insane time – so glad yall are ok. Praying it calms down and the winds don’t change so we can all go home,” one person wrote.
“This breaks my heart. Sending prayers and hugs your way,” someone else added.
“Hope you’re all doing ok. My prayers are with you all,” a third comment read.
“I thought about you when I saw the fires on the news. I hope your family, pets, and home are safe,” a fourth Instagram user said.
Many Other Celebs Have Evacuated Their Homes Due to the Raging Wildfire
Burke isn’t the only celebrity who has been forced to evacuate.
For example, 99-year-old actor Dick Van Dyke and his wife, Arlene Silver, left their abode due to the proximity to the fire.
“Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo escaped as we were leaving. We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires,” Van Dyke posted on Facebook on December 10.
The same day, Jane Seymour shared that she left her home safely.
“The fires in our community are a stark reminder of how quickly life can change. Thankfully, my family and I were able to evacuate safely, but my thoughts are with everyone who is still in harm’s way, the brave firefighters risking everything to protect us, and the many who call Malibu home,” she wrote on Instagram.
Actor Mark Hamill did not leave his home, but shared that he’s in “lockdown.”
“We’re in lockdown because of the Malibu fires. Please stay safe everyone! I’m not allowed to leave the house, which fits in perfectly with my elderly-recluse lifestyle,” he said in a statement posted to Instagram.
