The new Hallmark movie “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” is a huge hit for the network. Some of the film’s stars are already pitching what they think is the perfect idea for a sequel.
A ‘Holiday Touchdown’ Sequel Could Bring in a Baby
People talked with some of the movie’s stars at the November 30 premiere in Kansas City, Missouri. The media outlet noted that “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” is the most-watched film for Hallmark in 2024.
Ed Begley, Jr. (Paul Higman) told People, “We had the best time ever” filming the movie together. He said the cast had so much fun, “We want to do it again.”
“Let’s do a sequel,” Begley suggested.
Megyn Price (Leah Higman) was immediately on board with the idea. “Yeah, we’re pitching the sequel now,” she quipped.
Price even has a title suggestion. “We’re calling it ‘The Extra Point.’”
At that point, Diedrich Bader (Hank Higman) jumped into the chat. “Yeah, because it’s about a baby,” Bader added.
The premise of the sequel, the group decided, was that”Holiday Touchdown” lovebirds Derrick Taylor (Tyler Hynes) and Alana Higman (Hunter King) would have a baby together.
“It’s about a baby. We need a baby,” Price suggested.
Bader admitted the group “literally just came up with” the plan for a follow-up movie “about 30 seconds ago.
The trio of cast members also volunteered to take on additional work to make the sequel happen. Bader declared, “We’re all gonna be producers on it and we’re getting paid a lot.”
Begley suggested he’d “do craft service on it. I work cheap.” He also noted he was ready to chat with other “Holiday Touchdown” cast and crew members to get them on board with the idea.
The Network Seems Open to the Possibility
Is a “Holiday Touchdown” sequel a real possibility? People talked with the Hallmark Media senior vice president of development and programming, Samantha DiPippo, about the idea.
“We’ll have to see,” she said of the possibility.
DiPippo noted that there has been talk about trying to do projects with other teams like Hallmark did with “Holiday Touchdown” and the Kansas City Chiefs.
“But I think right now my brain is nothing but Hallmark Channel Christmas and the Kansas City Chiefs,” DiPippo told People.
She insisted, “I haven’t thought beyond that.” However, DiPippo admitted, “I think that there’s a real opportunity here.”
Hynes and King have also suggested potential storylines for a sequel to “Holiday Touchdown.”
The pair shared their ideas with Swoon. King pondered, “Would they get married on the field, or would it be somewhere in the stadium?”
Hynes replied, “Oh, in the middle of the field… And the tagline would be like, ‘Tackling Love’ or ‘Tackling Marriage.’”
He quipped, “We’re all in. We’re writing it now.”
King and Hynes echoed the sentiment they would love to work with the cast and crew again. For now, Hallmark fans will have to wait to see if a “Holiday Touchdown” sequel with a wedding and baby come to fruition.
