BLACKPINK’s Lisa is set to make history as the first K-pop artist to perform at the Academy Awards. The singer will take the stage at the 97th Oscars, joining a lineup of global artists, including Doja Cat and RAYE.The Academy announced the news on social media, calling it “one epic #Oscars moment.” Lisa is expected to perform Born Again, her newly released song, alongside Doja Cat and RAYE, marking the track’s first live performance. The song was pre-released on February 7 as part of her upcoming first full-length album, ALTER EGO.Three global superstars. One epic #Oscars moment. While it remains unclear which Wicked songs will be performed, the Academy has promised “showstopping performances celebrating the filmmaking community and some of its legends.”Lisa’s participation comes amid a shift in the Oscars’ approach to live music performances. Earlier this year, the Academy announced plans to move away from performances of Oscar-nominated songs, instead focusing on the backstories of the nominated songwriters. However, the inclusion of Lisa and other artists has sparked discussion about the selection of non-nominated songs for the telecast.Lisa currently stars in the new season of HBO’s The White Lotus, with new episodes streaming weekly.
