A.R. Rahman hospitalised due to chest pain from dehydration

Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on Sunday (March 16, 2025) after he complained of chest pain. The composer is now fine and well.According to a source close to the family, the composer, 58, was rushed to the hospital after he complained of discomfort in his chest. The source added that the doctors have cited dehydration as the cause of the discomfort, and that the composer is doing well now.Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, took to his official X handle to assure that Mr. Rahman is doing well.“As soon as I heard the news that Isaipuyal @arrahman had been admitted to the hospital due to ill health, I contacted the doctors and inquired about his health! They said he is fine and will be back home soon! She thanked them for their kindness and encouragement, emphasizing her focus on a speedy recovery.Mr. Rahman and Ms. Saira announced their separation in November 2024, ending their 29-year marriage, due to “significant emotional strain” in their marriage. The former couple have three children — Khatija Rahman, Raheema Rahman, and A.R. Ameen.On the work front, Mr. Rahman composed the music for Vicky Kaushal’s blockbuster historical film, Chhaava. The composer has Lahore 1947, Thug Life, and Tere Ishq Mein among other films in the line-up.Last month, the composer performed alongside renowned pop star Ed Sheeran at the latter’s concert in Chennai.
