Classical musicians from across the country will perform in a concert as part of Kumar Gandharva’s centenary in Belagavi on March 30. The Kumar Gandharva Foundation in collaboration with KLE society, will organise the musical concert as part of the birth centenary of the Hindustani maestro and Padma Vibhushan recipient. The event will be held at the Dr. B.S. Kodkini Auditorium at the KLE Centenary Convention Center on the JNMC campus in Nehru Nagar. The first session will be between 9:30 a.m to 1 p.m. Siddhartha Belmannu and Kalapini Komkali will present a Hindustani classical performance. Vishwamohana Bhat will present a Mohan Veena performance. The next session will be between 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sudhakar Chavan, Ankita Joshi and Bhuvanesh Komkali will sing and Praveen Godkhindi will present a flute performance. They will be accompanied by Aravind Kumar Azad, Mayanka Bidekar, Sridhar Mandre on tabla, and Sudhanshu Kulkani, Saranga Kulkarni and Swananda Kulkarni on harmonium. The programme is sponsored by the Belgaum Art Circle. Admission is free, said a release by organisers Saranga Kulkarni and Bhuvanesh Komkali.
Kumar Gandharva, was born Shivaputrayya Sidramayya Komkalimath in Sulebavi village in Belagavi district in 1924. Several organisations have held his centenary celebrations across the country. Published – March 27, 2025 03:44 pm IST
