SVRCINA (“sur-cee-nah”) Born Molly Svrcina in the year 1996 in Detroit, Michigan, sang in church growing up, and became passionate about music around the age of eight. Starting her career as Molly Hunt before adopting her family name, she moved to Nashville, got a manager, and a series of subsequent writing partnerships led to her signing her first publishing deal in 2009 at the age of 13. She released a handful of acoustic-minded pop ballads as Molly Hunt over the next few years before dropping the moniker in 2013. During that year, she released SVRCINA videos including a cover version of Imagine Dragons’ “Bleeding Out” and her original Christmas song “The Difference.” In 2014, she was featured on the Built by Titan dance track “The Darkness,” and her debut EP Lover. Fighter. arrived in early 2016.
In the midst of releasing her own projects, she has released collaborations with TWENTYSOMETHING, Arcando, Built By Titan, Hidden Citizen, Tommee Profitt, and Koni among others. An eponymous EP appeared in early 2018, followed a year later by the Hearing Colour EP. Writing music for more than half her life, SVRCINA has gained the reputation of a prolific writer to music industry professionals. She also garnered attention behind the scenes, co-penning MOTi and Icona Pop‘s “Sink Deeper,” and Sj and Joakim Molitor‘s “Live Without You,” both in 2019.
she has also collaborated with rapper Hulvey and Grammy Award-winning hip hop artist Lecrae (“Reasons”) as well as internationally renowned DJ, Robin Schulz (“Better With You”). There is a chance you may have heard her voice on major networks such as ABC, Freeform, HBO and CW on Station 19, Containment, Roswell, New Mexico, and Legacies to name a few.
SVRCINA has delivered a video for her new single “Flowers.” The video, directed by Dan Auerbach collaborator Bree Marie Fish, sees SVRCINA in a variety of settings as she aims to find hope in the darkest of times. The track is one she co-wrote and it was produced by Essancy.
