Amitabh Bachchan pays his respect to late Lata Mangehkar as he attends Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards with son Abhishek Bachchan – See photos | – Times of India

Amitabh Bachchan attended the prestigious Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award with his son Abhishek Bachchan on April 24. The Mangeshkar family had announced an award for the megastar on April 17th.

Amitabh Bachchan was honored for his remarkable contributions to Indian cinema at the event.Adorned in traditional attire, he made a notable entrance, accompanied by his son Abhishek Bachchan. They paid respects to the late Lata Mangeshkar and presented her with flowers as a gesture of reverence.
The family and trust established the award in memory of Lata Mangeshkar, who passed away on February 6, 2022, due to multiple organ failure.

Big B was honored with the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar on April 24, coinciding with the memorial day of their father, Deenanath Mangeshkar, a revered figure in theatre and music. This award, given annually, recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation, its people, and society.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was its first recipient, followed by Lata Mangeshkar’s sister Asha Bhosle in 2023.

‘Amitabh Bachchan is like a father to me’

Renowned music maestro A R Rahman will also be honored with the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar for his exceptional contributions to Indian music, as announced in a press release by the Mangeshkar family.
Hridaynath Mangeshkar will preside over the function and the awards will be felicitated by the hands of Asha Bhosle to the awardees, the press release said.

At the event, Hridaynath Mangeshkar emphasized the continuity of their annual celebration since 1943, expressing gratitude for Lata didi’s enduring blessings and inspiration. He stressed their commitment to sustaining the tradition for future generations, leading to the establishment of the Deenanath Smruti Pratishthan trust.
