![Growing up learning Indian Classical Music, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for diverse musical genres, and techno is definitely one that has captured my interest. Got inspired to write this track by blending the beautiful melodies of Hindustani classical, particularly Raag Bhairav, with the beats of techno. Excited to share this fusion with you all!

As Dev.D celebrates its 15th anniversary today, one cannot help but reminisce about the inception of the groundbreaking film that redefined the classic tale of Devdas. Behind the scenes, amidst the ambiance of Juhu Marriott, an ambitious pitch was born – a contemporary, musical rendition of the timeless story. The memory of that moment, etched in the mind of its creator, resonates with shock and excitement mirrored on Anurag Kashyap’s face.
Refelecting on the memories of the movie, Abhay Deol shared on Instagram, “It’s 15 years today since the release of Dev.D.I still remember pitching the idea of a contemporary, musical version of Devdas to Anurag, at the juhu Marriott. The shock and excitement on his face is etched in my memory. My ending was different from what he made though, I had Dev get shot by the cops outside Paro’s house because by the end of the film he’s a drug dealer. But the happy ending gave my character redemption, and it clearly worked. I still wonder where we would be had we killed him off. Dev the drug dealer, the original chauvinist, he was always far beyond redemption for me from the start lol!”

On a funny note, he further added, “Either way, I have never pitched another idea to anyone in the industry since then. Maybe I should start focusing on development once again 🤔?”
