Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon and Arshad Warsi starrer ‘Bachchhan Paandey‘ had released in March 2022. The film recently completed 2 years but did you know that the Bachchan family was not quite happy with the film’s title and had objected to it, as per a report.
A report in Times Now, has quoted a source saying that Jaya Bachchan had personally called producer Sajid Nadiadwala and told him that it was improper to use their family surname for his film. She further asked him to remove it. However, Sajid said that he couldn’t do anything about it now as the film was just a few days away from release. The producer suggested that the only thing he could do perhaps is change the spelling of Bachchan in the title.
What upset the Bachchans was that Bachchan was the pen name of Shri Harivashrai Bachchan and their actual surname is Shrivastava. Hence, they didn’t feel it was right to use for a film. Hence, the title of the film was changed last minute.
Meanwhile, during the promotions when Akshay was asked about the film’s title, he joked that he had seen Abhishek Bachchan and Chunky Pandey together and hence he ended up thinking of that title.
The film eventually, didn’t prove to be successful at the box office. ‘Bachchhan Paandey’ was an official remake of the 2014 Tamil film Jigarthanda which itself was inspired by the 2006 South Korean film A Dirty Carnival.
