Kriti Sanon recalls she was called ‘Tiger Didi’ during her initial days in the industry: ‘It takes a while to register’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Kriti Sanon made her debut with Tiger Shroff with ‘Heropanti‘. The film released in May 2014 and Kriti will soon be completing 10 years in the industry. But did you know that during her first few years, Kriti was not known by her name. People, especially kids just knew that she was in a movie with Tiger Shroff. Hence, they were calling her ‘Tiger Didi’.
The actress said at Times Now Summit that it takes time for people to recognise your name and match it with your face, especially if you’re not from the industry. She said that for a long time, people knew her as the girl who starred in a Tiger Shroff film and hence called her ‘Tiger Didi’.
She revealed further, “The kids of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, director of Bareilly Ki Barfi, they used to call me ‘Tiger didi’ back then. Because they didn’t know my name. It takes a while to register who you are when you are not from an acting background. If you keep at it, you will start feeling like an insider. But those initial years of struggle and frustrating moments of not having the kind of opportunity you want is what you have to go through.”
The actress also cited the example of Shah Rukh Khan who is an absolute outsider and hence he’s the best example of the insider-outsider debate that everyone keeps having!
Kriti will be seen next in ‘Crew‘ next alongside Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film has just hit the marquee today and is garnering some rave reviews!
