Kapil Sharma regrets missing collaboration opportunity with AR Rahman on Amar Singh Chamkila: ‘I felt really bad, I cried the whole night’ | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show featured Diljit Dosanjh, Parineeti Chopra and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali who were seen promoting their latest film Amar Singh Chamkila. Recently, Kapil Sharma shared a behind-the-scenes (BTS) video from the show, revealing a missed opportunity that left him with regret.
In the BTS clip, Kapil disclosed that he had missed a call from none other than AR Rahman, who composed the music of Amar Singh Chamkila, due to being overseas at the time.
Recalling the incident, Kapil narrated, “I met Rahman sir one day and he said, ‘I called you for Chamkila.’ I think he wanted me to sing a song or something. I thought he was just sweet-talking with me.” Imtiaz Ali, also present during the conversation, confirmed Rahman’s appreciation of Kapil’s singing abilities.

Expressing his regret, Kapil humorously shared, “He said this to me in a serious manner. I said, ‘Sir, we were overseas and which is why we couldn’t speak to each other.’” The comedian lamented missing the chance to collaborate with AR Rahman, jokingly remarking, “I felt really bad, I cried the whole night. It was unfortunate.”
Imtiaz Ali added a humorous twist, mentioning that Rahman had jokingly indicated Kapil as the backup choice if Diljit Dosanjh couldn’t be a part of the film.

Kapil Sharma has demonstrated his acting skills in movies such as Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, Firangi, Zwigato and the recent Crew starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon in the lead. Apart from his acting talents, he has also ventured into the music world with tracks like Alone, in collaboration with Guru Randhawa.
