Taylor Swift’s album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ LEAKED day before release! X bans search | – Times of India

As anticipation for Taylor Swift‘s highly awaited album ‘The Tortured Poets Department‘, reached a fever pitch among Swifties worldwide, excitement turned to disappointment as news surfaced of the album leaking online a day before its scheduled release on April 19.
Ever since Taylor teased the album’s arrival at the Grammys 2024, fans had been counting down the hours until its official launch. However, many could not hold back their disappointment when snippets of songs from ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ began circulating across the internet, with the tag ‘TTPD Leak‘.
Soon after word spread of the leak, the keywords ‘TAYLOR SWIFT LEAK‘, ‘FORTNIGHT LEAK’ and ‘THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT LEAK’ began doing the rounds online. In response to the alleged leak, the microblogging site X took action by implementing a ban on searches for certain keywords and tweets related to the album. Users found themselves unable to search for phrases like “Taylor Swift leak”. This move came amid speculations that the leaked songs may have originated from a Google Drive containing the entire ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ record.
Swifties, however, rallied to support the pop star and began flooding social media sites with tags associated with fake audio links while others posted misleading content labelling audio files with songs from the new album that palyed had songs from older albums and other meme material.

While the news of the leaks has gone viral, the authenticity of the same still remains unconfirmed.
This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift has faced pre-release leaks. Her album ‘1989’ suffered a similar fate when it leaked three days before its official drop date in 2014, despite her efforts to keep the music under wraps. Earlier in her career, leaks plagued the release of her third album ‘Fearless’, with the lead single ‘Mine’ finding its way online ahead of schedule. However, both albums went on to become one of her biggest selling records.
This is also not the first time that searches for ‘Taylor Swift’ has been banned on X. In a previous incident, X had banned searches for the singer after explicit AI-generated photos began circulating on the platform, garnering millions of views before being taken down.
