After a 14-year hiatus, Fardeen Khan has made his comeback in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series Heeramandi. In a recent interview, the actor opened up about the reasons behind his long break, stating that it wasn’t intentional.
Fardeen shared that the death of his father, legendary actor Feroz Khan, in 2009, was a significant factor in his decision to step away from the film industry.Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he said, “I needed some time after I lost my father. It was a tough time for me on a personal level. There were other considerations also, which I have spoken about at other times.” During his break, Fardeen also became a father, which played a crucial role in his extended absence.

Reflecting on his break, Fardeen admitted he regrets not returning to work sooner. “But I was fortunate that I had the luxury to take that time off. It wasn’t deliberate or conscious, but having said that, when I look back, I wish I hadn’t taken such a long break. Definitely a regret on many levels,” he said.
Fardeen is receiving praise for his performance in Heeramandi. Set against the backdrop of India’s struggle for independence in the 1940s, the show explores the lives of courtesans and their patrons, delving into the cultural dynamics of Heera Mandi.
