Latest reports indicate that Khan seemingly went on the run to avoid arrest and travelled nearly 1800 kms over four days, ending in his arrest by law enforcement authorities at a hotel.CNN News 18 reported that Khan departed Maharashtra on April 25, immediately after his anticipatory bail plea was denied by the court. His escape route took him through various states, starting with a flight to Goa, followed by travel to Hubballi in Karnataka, and ultimately a covert journey by private car to Hyderabad.
In an attempt to conceal his identity, Khan adopted a low-profile guise, donning simple attire and covering his face with a scarf. Despite his efforts, authorities managed to track his movements, prompting Khan to flee to Chhattisgarh, and even drive through alleged Naxalite areas at night.He ultimately checked into Hotel Aaradhya International in Jagdalpur, where he was apprehended by law enforcement. On his arrest, the police seized two mobile phones and cash.
Meanwhile, in recent developments, Khan was produced before the Shindewadi-Dadar court, where his lawyer, Mujahid Ansari, claimed the actor’s innocence, stating, “He has been framed in the matter and been accused of promoting the app.”
Mumbai Police has seized Khan’s passport as part of ongoing legal proceedings.
Late last night, a reel was posted online in support of the actor and fitness enthusiast. The post was shared with the message, “We are getting stronger day by day. #WeSupportSahilKhan Stop India’s biggest fitness industry scam.”
The actor stands accused of involvement in running a betting site and promoting illegal betting activities. The Mahadev Betting App case involves over 38 individuals, including Khan, with an estimated scam size of Rs 15,000 crore. Initially handled by local police, the case was transferred to the Crime Branch’s cyber cell, leading to the formation of the SIT.
