Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce probably didn’t party too hard in New Orleans ahead of the big game. The reason? His girlfriend — and his mom — pre-warned him.
Following the Chiefs’ AFC championship win, Taylor Swift made sure to tell her guy to stay away from Bourbon Street — an area in NOLA known for its many bars and clubs.
“Take me back to my old New Orleans home. I owe New Orleans a little something,” Kelce said to Swift and to his mom, Donna Kelce, on the field following the January 12 game at Arrowhead Stadium. A video of the interaction was shared on X.
“Yes, you do,” his mom replied.
“Not going to Bourbon Street,” Swift said.
Mama Kelce backed Swift up, adding, “We know your history.”
Travis Kelce Got Into Trouble When He Was in New Orleans in 2010
Many moons ago, Kelce got himself into some trouble while he was in New Orleans for the 2010 Sugar Bowl. However, happenings in the city ended up consuming Kelce and he found himself in a tight spot.
He wound up getting suspended from the University of Cincinnati football team after testing positive for marijuana.
“I got kicked out of college because of (that incident),” He said during an appearance on the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast in July 2023 (via TalkSport). “I partied a little too much down there, got hit with a drug test and from that point on, I realized I’ve got to tighten the [expletive] up,” he added.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Kelce said the whole thing was quite embarrassing.
“I was down in New Orleans, listening to Lil Wayne, and I wanted to smoke what he was smoking,” he told the outlet. “I’m just sitting there, dead in the water. I just wanted to get out of there. I was so embarrassed, I didn’t want to look at anybody,” he added.
A few fans reacted to Swift’s comment on X.
“But he’s changed a lot from a stupid college freshman to a seasoned veteran basically married 35 year old. I had a lot of fun in th Quarter when I was 19, too,” one person wrote.
“She definitely called him out on that one,” someone else said.
“Everyone says her writing or singing is underrated. NO. Her ability to casually roast a mf is underrated,” a third comment read.
