Robert Pattinson revealed that filming for “The Batman Part II” is set to begin at the end of this year. The sequel news comes a few months after Warner Bros. pushed the original release from October 2, 2026, to October 1, 2027.
In a recent red carpet interview with Variety, while Pattinson was in London for the premiere of his upcoming movie “Mickey 17,” Pattinson gave updates but made sure not to reveal too much.
“I think at the end of the year? And I know what it’s about, but I can’t tell anyone, but it’s like, it’s very cool. It’s very exciting,” Pattinson said.
Director Matt Reeves told Deadline at the Golden Globes that shooting will start at some point in 2025. He hinted to Deadline that, “We’re doing something that continues where the story came from and something I hope people are really surprised by.”

Pattinson and Others Are Set to Return for the Sequel
While filming hasn’t started yet, both director Reeves and Pattinson are confirmed to return for the second movie, according to the Daily Mail in 2022. Deadline reported that not only will Reeves and Pattinson return, but Mattson Tomlin will also return as co-writer. Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, and Pattinson are all expected to reprise their roles from the first film. Not much else has been revealed about the sequel as of now.
In a red carpet interview with Deadline, Pattinson noted the length of time since the first film release.
“It’s a while…everything feels so long ago because COVID just erased three years,” Pattinson said.
Andy Serkis, according to Screenrant, addressed fans eagerness for the next film at the recent Megacon event.
“I know there’s a huge appetite, and boy, am I as hungry for it as you all are… I talked to Matt recently because I was doing the press thing with him about “The Penguin,” I interviewed him… He told me the story of The Batman 2, and I’m so excited for it!” Serkis said.
The first film saw great success as The Hollywood Reporter announced it brought in $134 million during opening weekend. In total, the first ‘Batman’ earned roughly $800 million for Warner Bros., and received three Oscar nominations.
Pattinson’s Upcoming Projects Include ‘Mickey 17’ and ‘The Odyssey’
Pattinson’s upcoming sci-fi film immerses the viewer in aliens and creatures while having a bit of a love story attached. He detailed a few challenges when it came to playing dual roles.
“You’re basically doing the same as you would do in front of a green screen… You’re kind of imagining the other character there, but you’re just hoping you did it right,” Pattinson told Variety.
Screenrant reported in January that Pattinson is joining the cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project, “The Odyssey.” Not much has been released about his place in the film, but it premieres July 17, 2026. Others set to star in the film include Matt Damon, Zendaya, Tom Holland, and Anne Hathaway.
